KowCo Gaming Portfolio
This is a portfolio of some of my more major work done in Solidworks for large gaming manufacturer in Las Vegas. This was over a 4 year period from 11/2009 through 11/2013
Skeletor, a device to be used to prove the slope of the display is important to game play. Slots can be vertical, but Airhockey needs to be flat, and Pinball needs to have a slant. The top box and the bottom control box articulate through link arms when the device is tilted. All three of these types of games were developed for this platform.
LookingGlass was a table design with a 83" multi-touch main screen surrounded by twelve 21" touchscreens. The intent was to allow Craps and Slots at the same time to multiple players. 13 quad core PC and a scissor jack to lift the #600 top were included.
The Brain Box (left) is a complete pc system with removable drive bay, high performance video card and a special security card for gaming requirements. The Player Module (right) adds a 21" screen and touch panel to the same electronics package.
Jogo is a desktop gaming device made from the above components.
Jogo Jr. a framework to hold an iPad and provide a smaller cheaper gaming platform. The iPad can be rotated from portrait to landscape views. To allow for the rotation and to aesthetically position the iPad, a cam system (bottom pic) was used to ensure the clearing of the corner during rotation and placing the iPad in the correct elevation.
The Omega13 button, used in the Jogo Jr, has X-Y positioning, rotation encoding and push detection. It also has a small video screen which is light-piped to the top.
Palantir is a prototype of a back projected image gaming device The intent is for the screen to go completely transparent when not in use.
4Play was a concept to accomodate the most reels into a standard slot machine. For production, cable route modeling was used to provide accurate lengths.
The design of the Bartop Table uses several of the standalone bartop slot machines and places them around a large 62" touchscreen. Voila, you have a smaller verison of the LookingGlass.
The LEAP gesture mouse was repackaged and used as a component in a virtual Craps table. Grab the imaginary dice and throw. The LEAP detects your moves and the screen shows you the outcome.
